“After my recent rotator cuff surgery, I was admitted to St. Alexius for uncontrollable pain.  I was on 6 North and was very pleased with the quality of care I received.  Everyone was pleasant and always had time to attend to my needs.  They explained my plan of care before implementing and worked hard to keep me comfortable.  The person most instrumental in getting my pain under control and ready for discharge was the Nurse Practitioner for Pain.  When she was called in, she listened carefully, assessed the situation and immediately ordered meds that worked for me.  At a time when pain control is a major factor in healing, it is nice to see the hospital has a patient advocate like her who takes the time to understand what the patient is going through and acts on it.”

"…I would also like you to know that my son and I were at your facility again this past weekend for a CT Scan.  One person did registration with us and was absolutely wonderful… Also, the man who did the CT scan for my son could not have been nicer.  He completely put Shane at ease and Shane was worried about getting the scan because he had been told he would need an IV.  The technician joked with him and made him completely comfortable and was able to get the IV in on the first try.”

“I was in ICU from 1-7 to 1-11.  I don’t remember much of that week, but I do remember that every time I woke up, there was a young nurse who was always trying and succeeding to make me comfortable.  I was transferred to a room in the 5N section.  The nurses on this floor during my stay were exceptional.  I could not ask for better care.  The PCTs were also outstanding.  All my nurses were fantastic.  You should be very proud of the 5N nusing staff.  They are an exceptionally great staff!”

“I was brought to the ER via Hoffman Estates Fire Department ambulance #22.  I dislocated my left shoulder while playing ice hockey at the Hoffman Estates Park District ice arena located on Route 72, around the corner from you hospital.  I want to complement you and your staff. Even though I was in pain, it was the most pleasurable experience I have ever had in a hospital environment.  Not only was the entire department professional, courteous and efficient, they were the most empathetic professionals I have been exposed to in my life. As busy and hectic as it was, they treated me as though I was the only one there.”
