Patients and Visitors at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital

Patient Advocate

Your health is too important to worry about being embarrassed if you don't understand something your doctor or nurse tells you. Alexian Brothers Hospital Network encourages all patients and their family members speak up if you have questions or concerns. Everyone has a role in making healthcare safe - physicians, healthcare executives, nurses and technicians. As a patient you also play a vital role by becoming an active, involved, and informed member of your healthcare team. Ask a family member or friend to be your patient advocate. Your advocate can ask questions that you may not think of while under stress. A patient advocate may also help remember questions you have asked. When you a discharged, your advocate should know what to look for if your condition declines.
