Our weekly therapeutic groups are designed to address emotional and social issues facing older children and teenagers. Our groups are led by counselors who understand the unique developmental needs of pre-adolescents and adolescents. Currently, the following groups are available:
Self-Esteem (Ages 12-18)
In an effort to increase self-esteem and self-acceptance, this group focuses on identifying strengths and weaknesses, cognitive distortions, handling mistakes, and relationships with others. Teens will also have the opportunity to practice skills to avoid self-judgments and break their defensive barriers.
Managing Emotions / Teen DBT (Ages 13-18)
This group uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is a cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused therapy that emphasizes skill development. The overall goal of this group is to create emotional balance by learning and using positive emotional expression, communication, and coping strategies. These skills will enable adolescents to change behavioral, emotional, and thinking patterns associated with problems that can cause conflict and distress in their lives.
ADHD Group (9-12)
This group will help reduce the symptoms of ADD and/or ADHD in a hands-on and supportive environment by focusing on the child's strengths and providing solutions to coping with and managing their ADHD.
