About Us
Rehabilitation is your first priority at Alexian Rehabilitation Hospital. However, you also need to know how to live your life outside of the hospital setting. Modeled after the successful L.I.F.E. Center at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago , a partner of the Alexian Rehabilitation Hospital, our L.I.F.E. Center (Learning Innovation Family Empowerment) is a multimedia resource for you, your family, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals.
We provide access to information that spans the lifetime needs of people with disabilities and their families. We also provide resources for medical professionals looking for the most up-to-date information available. We meet these needs through a variety of media including:
- Lectures
- Workshops
- Library of written and visual materials for patients and caregivers
- Space for support groups to meet
- Computer terminals with Internet access
L.I.F.E. Center resources are organized according to seven important topic areas:
- Medical information and care
- Caregiving and the uses of medical equipment
- Housing and transportation
- Support and wellness
- Recreation and leisure
- Finance and law
- Education and employment
Given the primary importance placed by the Alexian Brothers upon the role of spirituality in the process of healing, the L.I.F.E. Center also provides inspirational books, poetry, articles, music, and other materials to encourage and uplift you.
