Me and My Mentor at The Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital Network

About Us

Me and My Mentor

Walking through a challenging time with someone who has already gone through that challenge can be a great source of encouragement and inspiration. That is why The Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital Network and the American Cancer Society have collaborated to bring you the Me and My Mentor program. This program pairs a cancer patient with a cancer survivor of the same disease who has been trained as a mentor by the American Cancer Society.

Mentors are there to provide you with on-going support and information during your cancer journey. Contact can be face-to-face, by telephone or email. These mentors offer a special kind of caring environment for expressing your feeling, thoughts, concerns, and fears.

This voluntary program allows you to choose the mentor by comparing diagnosis, treatment and other factors that match your own. You may discontinue the mentor contact at your discretion.

Those who might benefit from the Me and My Mentor program, include:

  • Newly diagnosed patients
  • Those with recurrent cancer
  • Family members and/or caregivers
