About Us

visitationchaplain

Visitation Chaplain Training provides 30 weeks of training (2-3 hours per week) and supervision for individuals interested in learning how to address spiritual needs in a health care setting.

Students learn basic empathy and listening skills, and methods to assess and respond to a patient's spiritual needs in a holistic, mind/body/spirit context. On-site training includes 15 hours of mentoring in a hospital setting with a Staff Chaplain. The goal of the program is to equip trainees to effectively minister to patients and families in a healthcare setting so basic pastoral skills can be transferred to the faith community in which they are a part.
