Alexian Brothers Center for Brain Research at the Alexian Neurosciences Institute

About Us

Every day, new discoveries from scientists around the world further our knowledge of how the brain works. At the Alexian Brothers Center for Brain Research, our goal is to utilize this information in conjunction with our own research data to improve current strategies for diagnosing and treating brain disorders. Using behavioral, cognitive, and psychological tests in combination with state-of-the-art noninvasive brain imaging examinations, our doctors study the detailed relationships between brain structure, brain function, and behavior.

We study neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease and epilepsy, neuro-psychiatric diseases including depression and alcohol abuse, and developmental and learning disorders such as autism and ADHD. Our research activities focus on:

  • Identifying the causes and mechanisms of disease
  • Evaluation of the relationships between individual patient profiles and treatment outcomes
  • Development and evaluation of new treatment strategies
