About Us

Alexian Brothers Medical Center Outpatient Nutrition Services are designed to enable the individual to take control of his or her nutritional care. Registered Dietitians will help create personalized meal plans to achieve weight management disease risk reduction and improve quality of life.
Outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy at both Alexian Brothers Medical Center and St. Alexius Medical Center. Together, they are part of Alexian Brothers Hospital Network, a network known for providing the highest standard of healthcare.
What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?
By virtue of education, experience examination and continuing education, the RD is a key member of the health care team. The RD assesses nutritional status and creates an individualized plan to complement and enhance the overall care of the person. Both education and personalized nutritional advice are provided in one-on-one sessions with the RD.
What can I expect from meeting with a Registered Dietitian?
Individuals may schedule one session, or multiple visits to assist with weight management, diabetes or other nutrition-related topics. Individual sessions can include:
- Assessment of nutritional needs
- Meal planning
- Label reading
- Cooking techniques
- Dining out
Nutrition Education is available for:
- Weight management
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Bariatric surgery
- Special needs for patients with cancer, kidney disease or gastrointestinal disorders
- Metabolic rate testing
Insurance and Appointments
The Registered Dietitians offer day, evening and weekend appointments for your convenience. Medical Nutrition Therapy may be covered by insurance. Please check with your individual carrier for details about your coverage. A physicians order is required.
